VISUAL MERCHANDISING ONLINE & OFFLINE

TIPS & TOOLS FOR EVERY TYPE OF RETAILER - THE HOW & WHY OF VISUAL MERCHANDISING

You could be selling plumbing parts for all I know, but it still needs to be organized. And hey, guess what? Other things will sell if you merch your plumbing parts because, quite simply, that's how it works. Your selling environment has to be clean, merchandised, and appealing no matter what you sell because customers like that.

I had a job where I merchandised cars – seriously, it's a thing. The colors, models, and designs don't get there by accident. Someone has to do it so that the cars look appealing as you're driving by. And, if you're looking at a Jetta, all the Jetta's are in one spot, making it easy to upgrade or change colors.

Full disclosure, Buying & Visual Merchandising was my major in college, and oh, I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Never mind that I merchandise my 'fridge, let's get into why visual merchandising helps your business so dang much. Get ready to start learning and implementing new ideas that will give you more success.

In retail, some things can wait, but if you want sales, Visual Merchandising (VM for the sake of this chapter) needs to be one of the areas you give 150% or more.

First, we'll discuss how to do visual merchandising and how it relates to increased sales. Once you look at the list below and get going, you (hopefully) get so inspired that you drop this book (literally or figuratively) so you can start creating fabulous visual displays right now! Once you notice a bump up in revenue, you'll be sold on the idea. Next thing you know, it will become second nature. Maybe you'll even start merchandising your 'fridge at home just like me.

Get out your notebook or business journal, or if you have a physical copy of this book, start writing ideas on the pages! HERE WE GO!

LET'S GET MORE ADD-ON SALES, MULTIPLE SALES, and JUST MORE SALES!

e-commerce

brick-and-mortar

maker's market

Visual Merchandising is vital throughout your e-commerce or brick-and-mortar location, pop-up, or even your truck if you want to increase sales. When I say throughout, I mean it!

Heck, you could have a table at a Maker's Market, but if you don't have good visual appeal, your sales will be lackluster.

For an e-commerce store, adding professional photos that tell a story on your landing page is one way to create visual appeal. Using videos for a continued narrative will also help your page come alive in the viewer's eyes.

For a brick-and-mortar, you'll want to create displays in every area your customer goes. Leave no stone unturned. If it's visible, then it needs to look good. No, it needs to look great. Confused? No need. To get motivated, turn to one of the best experts in the industry...

Until next time,
